For some reason, the towels spread in the sun did not dry quickly. Maybe it was the heavy salt content now saturating the towels, or the humidity in the air which we really did not feel... or the constant availability of beverages (primarily alcoholic)... from 10 A.M. on, the bars were open. On the beaches, the sidewalks, the hotels, tour buses... booze was everywhere. The featured beverage was beer, actually. LOTS of beer. Lots of Dos Equis (sp?), Bud, Miller, and other American and Mexican beers.
